Self Esteem & Life-Long Learners

Through the collaboration of community, school and family, all children will develop self-esteem and become life-long learners and successful citizens.

Union Public Schools is committed to providing comprehensive educational services to all students – including students with disabilities. About 1,500 Union students on average have some type of disability which requires attention.

Union makes every effort to contact, evaluate and educate all children suspected of having a disability, ages 3 through 21, under the provisions established by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 1997 (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.Union strictly adheres to the policies and procedures set forth under IDEA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the State Department of Education, and the District Special Education Policy/Procedure Manual to ensure that all students receive a free, appropriate public education.
 

Specialized Instruction

The Union Public School District provides specialized instruction and related services to students who qualify for public school services in the following areas:

  • Specific Learning Disability

  • Deaf/Hearing Impairment 
  • Traumatic Brain Injury 
  • Multiple Disabilities
  • Visual Impairment

EdPlan Connect Parent Portal

The EdPlan Connect Parent Portal allows parent access to your child’s IEP or 504 Plan documents, services, and teacher of record information.  

Note: EdPlan Connect requires an active email address in order for you to receive an email notification that will include a link to EDPlan Connect. Updates to email addresses can be completed at the Enrollment Center or at your child’s school site. 

Child Find Policy

Union Public School District is committed to the goal of identifying, evaluating and locating every child with a disability who resides within the boundaries of the district, and who is not receiving special education services, including children who are homeless, wards of the state or attending private schools. 

Some students may be eligible for services as early as age three (3). If you have knowledge of any individuals with a disability between the ages of three (3) through twenty-one (21) years of age, who may be in need of special education services, please refer their parent to Union Public Special Services at 918-357-6125.
